The Start and Grow Programme, helping start-ups flourish

Start & Grow is a government backed programme (supported by the Regional Growth Fund) offering businesses £5000 worth of free coaching and mentoring over 3 years for eligible start-up businesses.  Its aim is to accelerate business growth ambitions and lead to increased turnover, profitability, job creation, and business expansion.

Start & Grow clients typically gain from

  • One-to-one support and advice with an experienced, independent business advisor who will review your business idea and formulate the next steps
  • An intensive personalised support programme, including guidance, advice and peer learning, leading to the development of a robust business plan
  • Dedicated support in an application for external funding
  • Ongoing support for 3 years after the business starts including workshops, training sessions and coaching and mentoring

Business Starts delivers dedicated, tailored support from a SFEDI accredited Business Advisor to meet the individual needs of the business owner and the business concept throughout England, Scotland and Wales.

The support and advice that Start & Grow clients receive has been valued at approximately £5,000 over 3 years and is free for eligible start-ups that have also received a start up loan.  Eligible start-ups that have not received a start up loan will need to pay a joining fee of £350 (including VAT) which includes a programme administration fee of £120 (including VAT).

If you are not eligible for the Start & Grow Programme you may still be eligible for a start up loan.

The Start & Grow programme is funded through the Regional Growth Fund and delivered by the Cavendish Consortium members and partners.

  •    The Business Owner will be fully engaged in the business

  •    The Business Owner plans to be trading three years after the business starts to trade

  •    The business plans to create at least one additional job within the 1st three years of trading
